Update: does this work?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i have a question regarding updating prestashop from 1.3.11 to 1.3.5. As we need the onlineshop, i cannot go by "try and error".

So, i have this idea:
1. the installation is now in a folder (e.g. \shop and points to a db named db123)
2. can i do a clean install in a new folder (eg \newshop and point to a db named db999)
3. export data via backup from install1 and import to install2

Does this work? I tried to find an answer in this forum but i'm not sure that it is really working.

Thank you very much for your help :-)

René

Yes, this is a way I suggested to my customers to do.
By this way, you will have clean installation of new version and database.

But there some places you need to be prepared
1. when you execute your steps 3. that is migrating data.
Because database structures are different, you will encounter some errors. You need to fix those errors.
it means you need be familiar with database.

2. If you have installed 3rd parties modules in your old version, it is better that you install them in your new version before you do the migration.

good luck

Is there no migration tool?

There should be upgrade manual (instruction) document comes with the final release of 1.4.
I think you can follow the upgrade instructions if you choose to do upgrade.
But please make full copy of your site and database before upgrade.
