<solved>Can the category block be set to show subcategories by default? Can or can't?

I want to make the category block to look like below:

Shop by style

A style
B style
C...

Shop by brand

A brand
B brand
C...

But it seems that by default the subcategories are hidden and you must click the + bullet to show them. Can the category block be set to show subcategories by default? I just want an answer, can or can not?
