Problem install and database (mysql)

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I just got the last version downloaded and set up the database.
Checked connection tells me it is connected. Did an e-mail test, all OK.
then I pressed next and this is what I get:

Error while inserting data in the database:
'SET NAMES ''''utf8'''''
Unknown character set: ''''(Error: : 1115)

I checked the database. It is there with all the proper information.
I have about 15 databases setup, this is the first error like this for me.....

Many kajillion thanks, folks......

De Greythound.

It looks like you may have uploaded your files in ASCII format instead of UTF-8 format. The character set is not in the right format. Check the settings in your FTP client you are using to upload the files.

Thanks for your speedy reply.......
I checked in my cpanel mysql and it says it was uploaded in UTF-8 and in the phpadmin it also shows as UTF-8.
The FTP program Bullet FTP has always uploaded in the correct language, I had used it for another Prestashop and had no problems. That was the 1.3.3 this is the 1.3.4 ver.

If nothing else I can uninstall the one I have and install again....

Thanks a bunch.....

Well folks, here is the scoop.
I uninstalled the program and database. Made a new install of program with Firefox ftp to ensure it will up load with UTF-8.
I did a fresh database install. I renamed the extension from ps_ to gb_ just to have no problems etc. I did all the things that I found here and on other sites re install. and this is what In get:

Error while inserting data in the database:
‘SET NAMES ‘’‘‘utf8’‘’‘’
Unknown character set: ‘’‘’(Error: : 1115)

So you see, it's impossible not to be the Prestashop. So after 5 days pulling my hair and almost no sleep
I installed the quickinstall from my cpanel and guess what. In 15 minutes flat with the 1.3.2, I had a working store.

With this in mind You leave me no other choice but to look for another program.. 5 days is install is NOT a good support and or program to be proud of.....

Yours very sincerely sad
