No cart, just display

I'd like to install prestashop to show our items with prices but we don't want sell now via website.

Please let me know how to disable add to cart and checkout.

In PrestaShop v1.4, you can simply edit each product and untick "Available for order".

In PrestaShop v1.3 and older versions, you will need to edit the TPL files in your theme and {* comment out *} the "Add to cart" buttons.

You will also need to uninstall the cart block and delete the cart code from modules/userinfo/userinfo.tpl if you are using the "User info" module.

Only the "Add to cart" button will be removed when you untick "Available for order". You will still need to go to the Modules tab and uninstall the cart block.

Many files. You will need to search through all your TPL files for any "Add to cart" references. I know that product-list.tpl and product.tpl have references and many modules like modules/blockspecials/blockspecials.tpl.

one more thing, I want to change manufacturers name to brands, please let me know where do I need to change.

Go to Tools > Translations, select "Front Office translations" in the dropdown, click the USA flag, then search for all instances of "manufacturer" and rewrite the expression using "brand" instead. Do the same for the "Module translations".

I HAVE INSTALLED 1.4 VERSION, HOW TO I EDIT FIRST PAGE CONTENT.

Please don't write in CAPS. In PrestaShop v1.4, the "Home text editor" module is still used to edit the homepage content, but it has moved from the "Blocks" section to the "Front Office features" section. You can use the "Search" text field on the Modules tab to search for a module, then click the "Reset" button to view all modules again.
