Prestashop can't send emails

I used to use PHP mail() function in my prestashop and it worked perfectly. However, after something, I found out the emails send from my shop was put into spam folder by most popular web mail. So I decide to use a diffident email account by configure SMTP settings. It doesn't work at all!

I search on forum and found this post: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/65956/configuring___using_prestashop/smtp_problem_gmail. I follow all way of this article: http://www.presto-changeo.com/content/9-fix-email-problems and it still doesn't send emails out. This is very bad if my shop doesn't sent email to customers. Please help me!

I also tried to use customized mail server, but it didn't work for me. Didn't have time to trouble shooting, so I changed it back. I am curious if anyone have made it work can share some information here.

But it won't this even if you change mail server. I think it has nothing to do with mail server.

Please, could someone help me with this? It must has some way to use SMTP, otherwise it should have such a function available there.

And also if anyone knows how to fix it if the mail server was treated as junk mail server by most popular web mail (hotmail, yahoo etc).

Did you have any success with this?
My emails are being blocked by Hotmail and ATT. This may be due to a spammer on our mail server that now has cause dthe IP block to be blocked.

Trying to use SMTP is not helping because it won't send.
After entering in all the info the test email wont send. jsut keeps spinning.

When I save, the password field goes blank. not black dots or stars, just blank.
What do others see?
