( SOLVED ) "Friend URL Enabling Creating 404 Error" Help Needed

Dear Members,

I want to enable Friendly URL Option. But after enabling it I am getting "404 Error" Also I seen that there is no .htaccess file anywhere available in my installation folder. So how to create that also & what text should be entered in that file.

Please suggest me.

Hi Vilas,
The option to create the htaccess file is in: BackOffice >> Tools >> Generators.

You have to enable friendly URLs first in: BackOffice >> Preferences >> General.

Thanks a lot for solution. I have done same which you told. I have one more query that what if I generate both .htaccess and robot.txt is it beneficial or its not?

I think you only need to use a robots.txt file if you want to block pages from the search-engines,
I haven't used one before so I'm not sure of any other benefits - sorry.

But I didn't want to block any pages. I want to publish my site through them means I want to get traffic to my site. So what is solution for it.

..then there is no need for a robots.txt file. You only have to generate one if you want to stop google from indexing certain pages.
if no robots.txt file exists in your site's root then search engines will index everything on your site

Robot text serves more purpose than that. It also blocks other directories and stuff. I'd generate it then give it a good read. It is really good to have.
