ArpSoft
Don't you think that it is a bit stupid for us to upgrade every single file when a new version of Prestashop arrives? Why there isn't just an upgrade version which would contain only changed(upgraded files)For example>Prestashop Upgrade - 1.3.1 > 1.3.2In that case, nobody wouldn't worry about will his shop work after an upgrade because he would have a clear image of files that will be replaced with an upgrade version...Every single CMS, eCommerce etc. have this method of upgrading, and this is a BIG minus to prestashop.... rocky
It's very simple to extract just the updated files from the full archive. Just sort the files by modified date in WinZip, then extract all the files with a date later than the latest date in the previous version's archive. See here for an archive with just the files changed between PrestaShop v1.3.2 and PrestaShop v1.3.3.
ArpSoft
I did that already as it is the only method for me available but isn't it a default thing that one serious ecommerce script as prestashop should have, a single upgrade archive... Labs
LOL I'm still using 1.2.5 for the simple reason that upgrading of this program is a nightmare. Will be moving away from PrestaShop because the backend and upgrading procedures are just ridiculous. Torbz
I'm not sure stupid is the right word - these things are often difficult to develop to encompass a huge range of versions. It was probably an impractical use of resources to develop something like this and is fraught with its own complications.Though, I have seen updating scripts that identify files that have been modified from their original state, and an option to download them before upgrading. Obviously handy if you can't keep track of all the files you've changed over a long period.I installed a shop 18 months ago on ver. 1.1.0.5 and now want to upgrade to 1.3.3. I'm expecting the shop to break completely...and can't find documentation to advise accordingly (which is fair enough as it's a big leap).Anyway, backed everything up - it's a suck-it-and-see job now...I do agree though, an upgrade option would be sooooooo useful as Prestashop moves like a juggernaut through versions. Global Attribute AB
I totaly agree that it must be easier to upgrade PS.I have modified over 100 files and would like a good overview of which files are changed in a new version.
rocky
Upgrading in the future will be easier. In PrestaShop v1.4, you will be able to override classes and controllers instead of modifying files. That way, the original PrestaShop v1.4 are preserved and can be overwritten without losing your changes.
