aharmony
Hello people of Prestashop! First off, I LOVE Prestashop! I got up and running so fast, and found it MUCH easier to customize things to my liking than most other eCommerce apps! That aside, there is one thing that I have come for help with. I need a little bit of a hand setting up my product options for customers (kind of like choosing the colour/size before adding to cart). Forgive me if this is stupidly easy, I just can't seem to wrap my head around how to do this rather simple task! haha....I am using Prestashop as an outlet to sell my handmade jewelry. I need a way better than the "customer comments" at checkout to ask my customers whether they want their jewelry with extra length and sizing instructions so they can do it themselves, or have me custom size it before sending it to them. Ideally it would work kind of like this:(Drop down box)Option 1 - "I want to size my own bracelet"Option 2 - "I want my bracelet custom sized"The tricky part is that if option 2 is selected, a box should appear that they put their size information into. How do I go about doing this? Thank you very much for any help, and sorry if this has been asked before!
FredActin
Hello Aharmony,As you said, it's a bit tricky!I'm pretty sure this cannot be done with a standard installation of Prestashop. My suggestion would be to create 2 products: "Bracelet" with combinations and "Custom Bracelet" with a customisation text field. On the short description of "Bracelet" you can then link to the "Custom Bracelet" product for those who want a custom size.ORJust put enough choice using combinations to cover 90% of the cases.Just some ideas! Maybe someone else will have a better solution.

There is only one of every item, so having two listed items (one custom/one not) would pose the threat of someone purchasing and paying for the same item twice Hmm, well, failing having the text field pop up - can I just have a drop down AND a text field, and then they can just not put a size in when ordering a non custom size? I ask because I really can't seem to figure out how to even do that basic stuff! Where do I go to make a drop down box choice on the product? How do I make a text field that people can enter sizing into?I can work on the field popping up automatically later...for now, I just need to get the basic working! FredActin
To get the drop down with options, you can use attributes. Please follow the instructions below to get started:Attributes and groups wikiIn your case, you will probably have something like "Length" as an attribute group and "x cm", "y cm", "z cm", "custom size" as attributes. To allow customers to give you the size they want, please use the "Customization" tab - when you edit a product, have a look at the tabs: it is the fifth tab.Just add 1 Text field and you are done. Awesome, that's exactly what I needed! No offense to Prestashop, as I understand it is completely multilingual and English is not the native language of the developers - but I sometimes get lost when looking for features that I think should be there. A lot of them are named somewhat strangely for the purpose they serve! Haha, oh well. I loves it still Thanks again!
