Why doesn't Prestashop offer total count of all products in shop?

I've searched everywhere on this forum and on Prestashop, and there doesn't seem to be any place where Prestashop displays the total number of products in the shop. This is one of the most basic functional stats that all other ecommerce systems provides, why doesn't prestashop deliver this report?

In fact, simple total number of products is nowhere to be found on the backend: not in stats or products. Yes, you can list all the products in the shop, but Prestashop doesn't return the total count.

So, my question is, how do you obtain this simple count of all products listed in the shop? (and no, you cannot depend on the product ID, because the product ID is a unique key. If you delete one or more products, the product id keeps counting).

If anyone knows the answer to this, I'd appreciate it.

Prestashop, this should be a standard feature in your shop right on the home page. How do we make such a feature request?
