hurray Posted November 25, 2010 Share Posted November 25, 2010 This applies mainly to those who work alone on their e-commerce site.I have always wondered what people do when they decide to leave for vacation.Do they hand their shop to someone else during their absence or do they simply stop their business? Once I had a stupid idea to unpublish my site(take it off line) when I was gone for few weeks. I realized later on that google crawlers has indexed my site as a dead site and my google ranking decreased considerably. So most of the previous SEO work went for waste and I had to start it over.Now I simply dis-activate all of my items so that customers cannot make a purchase and display a vacation message on top of the site.However when a shop has almost 600 items, it gets very time consuming to dis-activate and then re-activate all of the items. So I would like to ask you guys what you do when you take a break. Wouldn't it be nice to have a function which will display a message clearly on each and every page of the site and take off the "buy now button"? But if you are gone longer time, and do not want to disable the shop maybe you can edit the .tpl and remove the buy button when you are gone? But for few weeks that will not be possible so I would need to disable the buy now button.So which .tpl file would that be and what would be the code?Thanks in advance.
