Prestashop combinations crash server?

Hi, I', using latest prestashop 1.3.2.

Everything was fine until I decided to use some combinations for my products.
Prestashop generated some 50.000 combinations ??? Just from ~10 dropdown boxes?

My server apache log has:

I tried to investigate this and found this blog post:

So apparently this is not something new, and since prestashop just used 128MB RAM (I'm on shared hosting) for editing combinations on back end how can it ever work even with say 1GB RAM if you have tens of products?

Has anyone done anything to improve combinations feature? Perhaps in version 1.4 anyone ?

Nope, it seems the combinations feature is the only big feature that has remained unchanged in PrestaShop v1.4, I think because it would be a big job to do and break compatibility with existing attributes. Presto-changeo has rewritten the attribute system using a paid module here.

Well I hoped it will be fixed in v1.4, if core features and believe me "combinations" - is a core feature is only "fixed" in paid module $115.00
Now that is not 10$ or 25$, so bye bye opensource. Heck for that price you can buy ready made shop will all bells and whistles.

Now don't get me wrong, Prestashop is a very nice solution I use it myself, but I don't get it all add-ons are very expensive. At least 75$ to 150$, I would like to ask the programmer are you nuts or just paying broken ????

If Prestashop had really "More than 40.000 shops use PrestaShop throughout the world!" and 10% buy this then Prestochangeo would be millionaires with 46.000.00$ for just this overpriced module.

Now everyone can set their own price point, but as I said IMHO all modules for Prestashop is overpriced and the idea of opensource is a lie altogether, because you take the shop start to use it, notice that it can't do this and that, but wait you can purchase plugins and modudes. Great you think until you start counting that all of them 5 or 8 plugins would cost you like 600$
