keyura
When I put the friendly urls ON, the images from the home page and product pages disappears. Can any one explain the reason for the same with solutions. Thanks
rocky
You must generate a .htaccess file before friendly URLs can work. Upload a .htaccess file to the root directory of your PrestaShop if it doesn't already exists (or back up your existing one), then give it chmod 666 permissions, go to Tools > Generators and click the "Generate .htaccess file" button. Copy over any server-specific code from your old .htaccess file into the new one.

Scotty501
Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same problem - the topic says solved but would mind sharing how you did it?
keyura
Yes, I managed to solve the problem.Basically I followed the step in the following sequence.I deleted .htaccess file using ftp using filezilla.I created a blank htaccess.txt file using notepad.I logged into Back Office>Tools>subdomain - Because I use subdomain called onedollarshop in my site where all the files of prestashop are stored. So Under the section of subdomain, i added "onedollarshop" just the name without quotes. Then Preferances>Ticked on Yes where it says Friendly URLs ON.Uploaded htaccess.txt to the root folder (In my case the folder of subdomain)Renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccessBack Office>Tools>Generators>Clicked on the Generate .htaccess file. Then gave the permission to .htaccess file to 666.When I followed the above sequence. I didnot had problem and please before doing above steps do not forget to delete the cookie set by your own site or backoffice. Just delete it. Coz Later on after I generated .htaccess file I was not able to login to my back office. But when I deleted the cookies, it all worked well.Wish you a happy selling in this christmas month.
