New installation error messages

Installed Prestashop tonight. Have changed nothing and added nothing to default installation.
Checking all tabs I get these error messages.

Adding image to new product in Catalog
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2400 bytes) in

Click Payments tab

Am new at this. During installation I was unsure if gd was activated. Can't find a php.ini file on server. Everything else seemed to go ok.. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Cary

Thanks for your reply. Just got an email from host saying their default memory allocation is 8mb. Thanks again. Cary
