[solved]Link Problem, breadcrumb and DC

Recommended Posts

I searched here in forum and did not found an answer to my link problem:

When I search a product through Top-Navibar by choosing category -> undercategory -> undercategory and product I'm getting analaog the same breadcrumb as chosen (+plus home before first category).
If I search the same product under: Box last viewed, search box or new products than my breadcrumb is:

home -> product.

So I think this is DC. How can I avoid this, i.e. change the links to be all the same in breadcrumb ?

Yes I did, but without any change fronted. What's about when the product is more than in one category ? I think this is my problem...

Though my products are linked only in the last undercategory of a 3-deep-level category-tree, in the breadcrumb all categories/undercategoires are listed, also Home before product
It seems that in the 1.3.1.1 is a bug. All category changes I made after product is saved, do not affect the breadcrumb at any way. Please confirm, and how I can fix this.
Isn't it better for SEO-purposes to comment out the breadcrumb, when I have a rel canonical like this: mydomain/123-product-html ???
I don't want that the products share link weight with categories/undercategories. I've ssen other competitors witho no breadcrumb, or breadcrumb only linking to a no. in a product list which are ranking more better than shops with breadcrumb and some categories/undercateogires before product in breadcrumb.

If you have a product in multiple categories, you must select one default category. That category will be displayed when you go to a product from a non-category page. Otherwise, PrestaShop wouldn't know which of the product's categories to select. When clicking on a product from a category page, that category is displayed in the breadcrumb instead of the default category.

Hi Rocky,

So I tried the following: I selected only one category for a testproduct, but let the first select on an administrative, non shop active, categorie. No change. I think the probleme is here. Can it bee ?.

See also my post here: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/77512/configuring___using_prestashop/sitemap_is_not_creating_any_product_link/

If this applies, so I will delete this administrative categories... I had these also on my actual project, because this allows to work better when price increases or product changes... Mainly this administrative categories where the Suppliers...

But I think that this link forming generates DC, when you are coming from non-product pages...

Isn't that than DC, because link is another for the same page ?

No, the URL is the same, it is just the breadcrumb bar text that changes depending on where you came from, so it isn't duplicate content.

It is the "Default category" dropdown that I am talking about, not the checkboxes. Make sure that "Home" isn't selected as the default category. You should select one of the categories the product is in as the default category.

Hi Rocky,

sorry I haven't noticed the drop-down possibility...

I imported my products so:

first category is for all products the category 1 = Home and than a not shop active administrative category and the third category is the category where the product has to be in the shop front. Is it possible to change this drop-down select also by a correcting import ? so instead 1 for home first, the last category ?
