T-bird
I'm not sure if this is a security issue, but I can't help wondering if there is some malicious behaviour going on. On a daily basis I get literally dozens of products added to carts from unregistered customers but not one of them is being completed as an order nor are any of these people registering as customers. It's very frustrating as I can't help wondering if there's some sort of security issue putting people off or if somehow hackers are "testing the water" with a view to hacking or cloning my site. I've placed sample orders myself and had friends try it out but none of them has found anything unusual or any security issues flagging up. Anyone else come across something like this? Is there any way to tell which IP addresses are adding items but not completing orders? This would be useful as I could tell if it's the same people over and over again or different people.Thanks,Andywww.thunderbirdmodels.co.uk
sebastiann
I heard about this before and probably it is some spider or something similar. But I do not know if you could get the IP if they do not make an order. There is this module to track orders, that is all I know: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/63241/third_party_modules/module_order_ip_log__keep_track_of_the_ip_address_your_customers_had_when_placing_an_order/
rocky
It's probably search engines crawling your site that is creating so many carts. See here for how to prevent it happening.
T-bird
Many thanks for that. I applied the fix and, though it has not stopped it entirely, the number of daily cart additions that don't progress to orders seems to have dropped right off. It must have been search engine robots as you say, though what purpose this serves I have no idea....Andywww.thunderbirdmodels.co.uk
nbela
Hi AndyI think it's not just the search engine robots causing the problem... I went on your site and couldn't access any https pages. This is the error page I got:----------------------Secure Connection FailedAn error occurred during a connection to www.thunderbirdmodels.co.uk.SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) * The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. * Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site-----------------------I would have let you know via your contact page but that's a https page too, more to the point... some of your customers are prob having the same issue as I did and can't contact you about it. Thought you might like to know!
T-bird
Thanks, I'm aware of this one. It's a separate issue I'm having with my SSL certificate at the moment and nothing to do with the cart. My web host company accidentally deleted the key & csr before I had a chance to save copies so I'm just waiting on a new cert from Comodo.Andy
Alcately
I have the same. Spiders seem to stay away now but on the old software I had at random an order. Now I don't have any at all.Friends have been testing too and couldn't get something strange. But yet.. this is odd. Very even.
