cecepee
I have a problem with combination's that i cant figure out.I have a customer who wants to order a mini phone in a certain color. The phone has 3 different colors, white, black, pink.At the moment black is the default color. But whatever color i choose to put in the basket it always ends up with the default color in the basket anyway. i have tried with adding different amounts of the product to the cart, refreshing the page etc, but no luck. First i had pink as default and customer wants to order the black color, but it keeps adding pink to the basket. If i changed the default to the black color then same problem occurs but with black color as only color in the basketI have no clue why this is so, i have enabled back-ordering on this product (if it's out of stock)(shouldn't matter).Im running ver 1.25 (Its the shop in my sign) I haven't yet checked if that happens with all products that has combinations.Edit: Seems to happen to all products with combinations. All help is greatly appreciated.Thank you.Best regardsPeter
jdmorrisn
I have had the same problem and posted yesterday. My problem is solved mostly via trial and error with no real answer why the attributes didn't work as they should - but now they do, doesn't make much sense but it worked for me, worth a shot. All i can suggest (which worked for me, it might work for you too) is the following:1.Choose one of your products and delete your combinations from this product2.Open the product in your browser (Front Ofiice) and refresh the page.3. Add the colour attribute (manually - not with the generator tool), clicking the image you wish to add the colour to (only one colour at the moment) and refresh your browser.4. Add another colour, again clicking the respective image, and again refresh your browser. Test by clicking the colours to see if it switches between the two colours. (maybe it will - maybe it wont work yet)5. Repaet the above steps for all the colours in your product.6. Delete the combinations and refresh your browser.7. Use the generator tool this time, select all colours and generate, back to product.8. refresh your browser and test the colours to make sure they switch correctly.9. Make a test run, add to your cartHopefully it will work. Then the rest of your products should also work without having to change them (if set up correctly). It seems somehow the attributes needs a kick start or wake up. Good luck.
cecepee
Thank you for your reply and your workaround.I have not tested it yet, but how did you come to think of doing like this? Its quite outside the box i must say.Maybe it is as you say that it needs a kick-start or similar, BUT the combination's have worked for me earlier, its like it just recently stop working and i cant figure out why that should have happen. Will try your fix, but i hoped it could have been fixed easier.Thank you.//Peter
rocky
Check for Javascript errors on your website. They can prevent the attribute from changing, which causes the default attribute to be added to cart.
cecepee
Thanks Rocky. Not sure how to spot java errors on the website. But i opened the site with the bad combination's in IE8.There i see a yellow-remark about error in page. but when i read it, it only say syntax error. Is there a better way to check for javascript errors?Message: Syntax errorLine: 383Char: 20Code: 0URI: http://www.lindbergers.com/ws/3550-mini-phone.htmlMessage: Syntax errorLine: 793Char: 39Code: 0URI: http://www.lindbergers.com/ws/3550-mini-phone.htmlThanks//Peter
jdmorrisn
The reason i did it like this was just to ensure that I was doing it correct, but as i did each step and checked if it was working - it suddenly was. But when I tried to jump to doing all combinations it didn't work. So then I took it step by step. I make plenty of modifications at the moment to finalise my site how I want it so I am aware that even the smallest change can cause a problem. And I have noticed before with other features that sometimes this approach works.
rocky
I see you are using v1.2.5. It looks like you are affected by a bug in the compatibility mode that was fixed in v1.3. See here.
cecepee
Yes Rocky. That's correct. i am still using 1.2.5.I have not dared to update to newest version yet, after i read about all struggles and problems people are having when they upgrade Makes me worry to much. If i find a easy 1-2-3 guide how to update without problems i will do it... (hint, hint)BUT thanks for the info and the link. i added the two rows to my init.php and now it seems to be working as it should, very nice.@ jdmorrisn maybe its worth it for you to see if this is a part of your problem too, even though you have fixed it, might be smart to do this anyway.Thank you.//Peter
furlongdesign
I have color combinations and when changing color on the front end the associated image is not displayed. Eg I have black blue and green. If I want to buy a blue helmet I change the drop down to color blue but the picture stays black. Everything ok at the back end.
