Catagories links as logos in banner or main page

I'm opening an online printer cartridge store and want my main page to have a grid of large manufactures logos...HP, Epson, Cannon...and a search box to allow customers to search all product descriptions for their cartridge or printer number. It needs to be simple and uncluttered. No new products, sale items etc. Just the grid, a search box, catagories and the cart.

I have no real coding skills except cut and paste . My question is, is it possible to create a Flash banner containing the logos and code each different link to the relevant Category or Manufacturer? Or, would I be required to do it some other way?

Also, is it simple to move the search box into the main body of the page?
