Trying to install on Linux with DirectAdmin

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Iam using a relatively secure host which utalises DirectAdmin

I don't have access to php.ini although all settings in that regard are fine.

I problem is with File Permissions and even after following through with the installation proceedures Things are a little bit astew.

starting with the reason behind setting entire folders/files and subfolders to chmod [777]

this is a permissions problem and other cms systems get around this by using the ftp method of installing which for some reason eliminates the need to chdmod files/folders leaving them in their more secure states of 755/644

next once I get through this part of the installation I can-not for some reason change the logo ..

I even deleted it and still get this error: Impossible to write the image /img/logo.jpg. If this image already exists, please delete it.... btw the folder is chmod [777] as I would not have been able to get to this point.

several odd things happening and Iam not quite sure how to rectify these. for a start Iam not comfortable with the file/folder settings.

then basic things like changing the logo don't seem to be working.

on the overall I do like the simplicity of the cart in looks and style. As well as the expandability of it.

but their seems to be a very security problems at least for myself.

I am trying to install Prestashop on hostmonster.com shared hosting but can't seem to be able run the install.

Why wasn't the write permision pre-configured in your software?

Can I give you my hosting user information to install the software? I can take it from there.

Thanks.

6. While you have your FTP connected to your Web hosting server, make sure the following PrestaShop folders have ‘write’ permissions (also known as “CHMOD 777” – explanation of file permissions here) but do not apply these permissions recursively (to their subfolders): /config, /upload, /download, /tools/smarty/compile. Then make sure the following folders have ‘write’ permissions and apply these permissions recursively (to their subfolders): /img, /mails, /modules, /themes/prestashop/lang, /translations
