[SOLVED - Somehow] FO - Colour picker doesn't choose the correct image to display

Recommended Posts

I have one product which has two colours (white and bronze) and an image of each product in their respective colours. I added the colour attributes in the colour picker and I have generated the combinations of colours/ sizes by using the product combinations generator. On the front office the product has the main, larger image and two smaller images directly below. When I click on the clour picker 'swatch' to select the colour all it does is make one of the product images disappear leaving only the white one as the large image, I have to click the green arrow to make the other product display. I want it so that if I click bronze that the bronze product image is displayed and vice versa that if I click the white swatch the white product image is displayed - is this possible?

Here's how PrestaShop should work. When you first go to a product page, both product images are displayed, since no colour has been selected. When you click the "White" colour, just the white image displays. When you click the "Bronze" colour, just the "Bronze" image is displayed. Clicking "Display all images" returns to the view of all product images. Is that not how it is working for you? Did you want it so that only the images of the default colour are displayed instead of all product images initially?

No, it doesn't work like this for me.
Yes both product images are displayed when no colour has been selected.
If I click the white colour, the white colour remains.
If I click the bronze colour, still the white colour remains.
I don't have a 'display all images' - I have a green arrow that says 'cancel' and which returns to the view of all images.

So I want it to work how it should - when I click bronze colour - the bronze image should show - but this doesn't work.

Ok, thanks.

But, if I want to use the product combinations generator it doesn't let me select either of the images to add the combinations to. Therefore it is adding the combinations to both images.

if I add the combinations manually it will only let me do it for one image. then it says error - combination already exists.

I have colours and sizes in attributes.

I just figured out that if I do not add any sizes the colour picker works perfectly - switching between both colours.

But as soon as I add sizes the colour picker doesn't work. Am i doing something wrong?

I tried two ways and neither work - perhaps this is the wrong way:
First way:
1. Add the appropriate colour attribute, tick the appropriate image, add combination.
2. Manually add size attribute, tick the appropriate image, add combination.

Second way:
1. Add the appropriate colour attribute, tick the appropriate image, add combination.
2. Click on Product Combination generator, add attributes, generate, back to product.

Am I missing something?

Ok, weird - have been messing around trying multiple combinations, deleting and retrying and now at least the drop down box changes when you click a colour from the colour picker (and vice versa). But how can i make it so that the main image changes with the selection from the drop down box or colour picker. At the moment still only one image stays in the main window and both small images disappear.

What i would like is for the main image to change with the coour selection and I would like the small images to both remain as well - how can I do this?

I saw this one previous thread - if I do the same will this do what i want?

I solved this just by keep trying different things. Bizarrely I added each combination one at a time and refreshed the front page each time to see if there was any difference. And it works now as it should. I don't understand the logic but what the hell. Thanks for the posts and replies.

Hopefully other products will not have this problem. Spending a whole day on one issue is a killer
