[SOLVED] How can I remove the little prestashop 'bag' at the front of my webapage URL?

Recommended Posts

Found on the net one program to change to icon file - bu tno cigar.

I upload the favicon in the back office - it actually shows in the back office. But reload the website and nada - nothing, still the prestashop handbag. So what's the deal, what am I missing?

No, it's normal. I've had the same things. It's only in your own computer, because you must clear your cookies, or other things like this, I don't remember well. But it doesn't really matter. For the others, it'll be right.

Ok ?

I go to bed, now. (I'm a French living in Italy!)

Thanks, I managed to make the icon file as you suggested - and uploaded to the back office (preferences - appearance) and it shows in the back office - but I tried on both my laptops and it only shows the standard IE icon. (at least not the prestashop icon). Is there something I am doing wrong?

Also I checked firefox and this still shows prestashop.

What version of IE are you using? I think IE6 requires you to add a website to favourites before you can see the favicon. Otherwise, it is probably a cache issue. Try clearing your cache. If that doesn't work, be patient and it should appear eventually.

I flushed the cache but nothing changed.

I have latest IE8.

But then I will just wait and see.

My only other thought was that maybe the permission for the file is not correct, I have noticed when I upload files they are automatically 644 (even if the permissions are set recursively) - but I cannot find it via ftp to check. Where is the favicon stored and should it be 755?

The icons should be chmod 644. What version of PrestaShop are you using? In PrestaShop v1.3.2, img/favicon.ico is used for both the Front Office and Back Office icon. In some older versions of PrestaShop like PrestaShop v1.2.5, themes/prestashop/img/favicon.ico is used for the Front Office. If such an icon exists in your theme, make sure it is overwritten with your new icon too.

I use 1.3.1 - to be honest - a little terrified of upgrading to 1.3.2 since I have changed so many files to get the shop how I want. I cannot remember al the changes and where they are so it could set me back a bit if I upgrade.

But, I deleted the favicons from both folders you mentioned and then uploaded my own with chmod set to 644 and now it works - cracking stuff. I guess this was the problem that only one favicon was correct in the folder - the other was still prestashop somehow. But very good - thanks Rocky.
