brujj1
Hi,I am building a virtual goods store to sell downloadable products. I know there are many people like me and I would like to know how you get rid off the registration requirements about shipping address and phone# or tax info. From what I know now (I am also very new) prestashop is not good for making a shop only for downloadable products because of the registration requirements. If I can not somehow delete those requirements, I can not make such a shop.I found some modules but none gets rid of the shipping address and phone number. Can anyone tell me what to do or suggest something? Thanks
DevNet
Hi,How can you identify your clients without any address? If littige? Is it legal to sell a service like this?Best regards
brujj1
Like i said i am selling downloadable products. No one needs to give me their address. It will be very strange if during registration they fill a form and give me their address and phone number.
pmfjoe
Most of the time you need the address for credit card processing. Also I tend to buy alot of downloadable content, and I can understand possible wanting to remove the shipping address but I have never ever purchased anything downloadable and not been required to provide my address and phone number. If you know of a particular downloadable content shop that does not require an address I would be interested in knowing who and what they are selling. brujj1
Hmm I was thinking of using paypal not credit cards or anything else. I am planning to sell 3D models and textures so there is really no need to give any address or phone number. Some textures are just a few cents so there is really no need for too much information. When customers face to many obstacles like these, they'd rather just leave the shop and go elsewhere. But I will look for another solution to make a site like I want. I wasn't sure if Prestashop did not have such options because I started building the site just a few days ago.I have another site though made by joomla and the payment goes with paypal. AND there is no registration requirement or login or filling any forms. Customer chooses a product and click buy button and buys it.The only problem I have with this site is that it takes so long to upload and get one product up because I have to go from module to module and from one page to another just to have one product available to customers. I will have to have around 500 products up with details and so on. I was looking for a a faster way to build a site but now I have this address issue and some other little problems that I didn't have during building my other shop. I can give u my shop link in a pm if you'd like. Not sure if it is against the forum rules to give links here.
pmfjoe
Ok, I definitely understand where you are coming from now and I can see your point. However I have different levels of experience with a bunch of different shopping carts and I really can't think of any that would easily allow that.OTOHHave you tried commenting some of the lines out on the verification page that apply to the address? Perhaps that would solve your problem.

pmfjoe
As long as the data is not a required field in the database then you should simply be able to comment out the lines in the php file that require it to be entered.
