Adding "Optional" next to optional form fields

It is my understanding that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) required that websites include the word "optional" by form fields that are optional (not required). First, can anyone confirm this? Second, how do I add "optional next to my form fields. I guess this would be similar to adding the asterisk (*). Thanks!

You would need to go through all the tpl files that use the forms, authentication.tpl being the major one. Where you see

            *

Change that to

            Optional

That should work.
