move customization fields into add to cart?

Recommended Posts

I have never tried doing that, so I'm not sure how much work is involved, however, everything is possible.

There's a module on my shop that changes the way Prestashop handles attributes, it lets you display regular attributes as textboxed, text areas and more (without any save button) and also lets you assign a price impact to them.

You can check it out at http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/47363/

Tomer,

I just posted this question in another thread, but I think this post is more closely related to what I'm trying to accomplish and would like to know if your product can make it possible...

I sell watch bands in different size and color combinations. Right now I create combinations from two PS attribute groups (size and color) and track inventory (price, reference number, EAN13, quantity) for each combination. But I'd also like to add a third attribute group for a free buckle in either silver or gold -- however, the buckle color will not affect inventory count, price, EAN13 or reference numbers.

In other words, I have ten 18mm brown watch bands and the customer can add either a gold or silver buckle to each (I don't have five 18mm brown watch bands with gold buckles and five 18mm brown watch bands with silver buckles.)

I'm beginning to think that within the confines of PrestaShop, my buckle choice is actually a customization. But I don't want it to behave like a customization; I want it to behave like a third attribute group. I want another drop down box (or radio buttons) and I want to keep it together with the other attribute choices and have it all submit automatically with the add-to-cart button. So the customer will select size, then color, then buckle color and then add-to-cart.

Will your product allow me to create the buckle choice as an attribute group, but not affect the quantity, price, or reference number of the preceding selection?

thanks, mimib

Following the subject of this thread, has anyone managed to move the customization block into the add to cart form?? I cannot manage to make this work, since you cannot nest <form> tags in html, and the customization form would be nested into the add to cart form. Is there a fix to this? I really need it there because it is where it should go...

Greetings,
