Customer E-mail language

Question about emails that customer receives automatically while we change the status of order from one to another:

How is the language of the email chosen? Is it based on my language (the language that I am using as an admin), or is it based on the language that customer has chosen when cerating the order?

I am just building up the system, so sending a test email is not yet possible.

I was hoping I could choose/system would choose the language based on customers language. That would make sense - that the system chooses the same language as the customer has chosen, not my language. Any ideas where to send feedback?
