E-mail delivery setup

Having real trouble actually getting a mail to send during installation.

Had this issue last night on my primary domain on my hosting but managed to get it working... can't remember how exactly but I got it working.

It says a test mail has been sent but its not actually sending a mail.

I have namecheap.com hosting and trying to get the e-mail to work is very annoying as its the simplest of things.

Have contacted hosts but no help really, say i'm trying to send a mail using a domain thats not hosted with them.

Yet I am, it just doesn't work!

Any ideas? Any similar problems?

Or can anyone tell me where is this information stored so I can take a look at what settings fnially worked for me?
