"Module update available" -- planned for a future Prestashop release?

Sometimes I stumble across an update for a module and hadn't realised it was released for months.

I've used other systems like Wordpress where there is a BO notification that says "update available", which is quite handy. I'm wondering if a similar notification is planned for a future release?

Such a feature is already in PrestaShop, but it only works for modules from the PrestaShop Add-ons website. See the "Automatically check updates to modules" option on the Preferences tab.

Not difficult for a module author to add this to their own modules, too.

Where can I see this? For example I just found out that one of my modules is quite outdated, but I don't see any indication of this in the BO?

I've had a closer look and I guess PrestaShop has a different idea of "Automatically check updates to modules" than I do. It seems the only thing it does is get http://addons.prestashop.com/adminmodules.php?lang=1 and display the results in a "Live from PrestaShop Addons!" box. Click on the "PrestaShop Addons" (or "PrestaStore Live" in v1.3.1) link at the top of the Modules tab to display the box. That's disappointing. I was hoping it would send the module names and return whether updates are available.

Oh I see...you can click on "Prestastore" and it opens up a panel...

It doesn't even look like a link that you can click!

I thought it was an icon that would change colour or something if an update was available:)
