abandoned cart Presta 1.7.3

Hi,

1. Does anyone understand the logic on how prestashop decides when a cart is abandoned ?

2. Does anyone have succefully setup mailchimps abondoned cart mail with presta? It seems like there is actually never a trigger because I have a some abondoned carts but no email is sent.  (I've already completed presta - mailchimp connection).

Please only one question per post.

For 1. the same logic as for other Prestashop versions. Customer or guest adds a product to the cart and never check-out this cart. So even products added from guest will generate an abandoned cart.

For 2. what is the support/developer of mailchimp module saying ? You tried to contact him ?

ok, let' s stick to the first question.

When exactly does the switch between non-ordered and abandoned take place? Is it a period of days after the items remain in the cart? How to influence that?

No there is not a period of days. This is controlled by sessions. Depending on how the session is closed the cart is abandoned or ordered. There are more than one possibility to open a session. Customer logs into his account, or guest (or customer) adds a product to cart.

Furthermore besides the cookie session Prestashop also identifies the location (geolocation), but this is a part and controls what customer will see for his country.

If a theme is bad coded, than it could be also possible that SERP's are putting goods into your cart... But this only happens when Prestas code is manipulated.
