problem with essentiel theme

hi there I purchased an atchworks theme and it' s great. I needed to add italian and so I had to create new gif files for the left column menu. I created the italian version for each of them, then created a directory in IMG called IT with all the files with the original english name (home, new product etc.)! still when I switch to italian there's nothing at all, if I roll over with mouse, sub menu display well, see pics
