parent categories horizontal and subcategories in vertical menu

hi.

I am looking for hints or plugins to implement the main categories in a horizontal menu and the subcategories in a vertical menu. So the start page shows only the horizontal menu.

Try the Top Horizontal Menu. It lets you select categories to appear on the menu and will display subcategories vertically when hovering over the category.
