With one of the downloadable products in my shop i get the error message:

This product is missing:
/home/fhlinux146/j/jamesglisson.co.uk/user/htdocs/shop/download/f9b42de8e6603b7b03e697fa070928576f2b7b90

when i try to upload it. I haven't had a problem with another downloadable pattern pack in the shop, what am i doing wrong?

thanks!

This only happened to me once and that was when there was a Javascript error on the page. I ended up manually renaming my file to the hash code and uploading it to the download directory using an FTP client, then later I fixed the Javascript error.

Perhaps this module would make things easier for you.

Hi rocky. I have the same problem. But when i create the product, upload fine. But some times the products give me the error This product is mising...., and y need to disable the dopwnload product, save, and reupload.
This is a problem, for the reason that the clients think that the product dont exist, and cant download.
You have a solution for that?

"The product is missing" messages usually mean that the product's file in the download directory has been deleted, or the hash code in the database has been changed to a file that doesn't exist. I'm not sure why that is happening to you. If you find out the cause, it will easier to come up with a solution.

At the moment, i dont know the cause. Its random. Sometimes i go to the product page in admin, and the file dosnt exists.
I reupload and works fine. But the problem comes again .

this sounds like the same problem i'm having - some of the shop listings it works fine, then randomly wont work for others.

  • 4 months later...

i had this a few times but realized it was because i wasnt waiting for the page to finish loading the file. i got the missing file warning after it said update successful. however if i selected the file i was using as the downloadable item hit ok and then waited...... after a while i get the yellow message where the upload box once was saying upload ok. fill the other bits out and everytime it works fine. it was only if i hadnt waited for the file to upload in the background and filled everything else out i had the problem.

I can't upload files for downloadable products either. Get the 'file missing' error too. Even though the backend says 'update successful' and the loading time suggests it indeed is uploading.

I can upload manually through FTP (3 products) and then rename the file to the hashtag, but the 'file missing' error stays (I've tried renaming with and without the .zip extension, and my download folder plus everything in it is set to 777 )

How can I fix this?
They're zip files of around 6 MB.
