How to add 2 categories on homepage ?

Unsure as to what you mean?? Default is home then you add categories in the admin section and in those you can create sub categories is this what you are trying to work out??

"Home" isn't really a category in it's own right - it's a grouping that defines which products are shown on the home page. If you want products from your "normal" categories to show on the home page you add them to the home "category" as well as their normal category.

That won't do... I think what nmh7682 means is something I'd like to see possible as well.

Basically, even if I'd live well without the Home Text part, it'd be nice to have one block with latest novelties and another one of probably up coming products (or any other (sub)category one would see fit) in the content area, but displayed in the same manner (or not) as Featured Products does.

Here's an example, and another.

If we combine everything under Home, things will be too mixed up, and visiting customers will be confused with what's new and what's not. Plus we'd need to increase the number of products to be displayed, not to mention the hurdle to later untick the products we don't need to be featured, one by one.

Is this description clear enough?

I think nmh7682 means that he wants to see some categories on homepage, (image+title+eventually desc) same as he sees the subcategories of a main category

Curious about this too. On a site I've html coded the categories on homepage.
