Extending Products with a module?

I am looking at prestashop as a potential solution for my store. I would like to ask those of you that have experience with building modules if it is possible to add to a product extra content like granting access to online resources. To be specific, i want to sell access to a webinar service, so that doesnt fall into the category of downloadable product, but is more like a virtual product.

The necessary application hooks:
- after completed purchase calling API methods to create a new user on the webinar service
- displaying the login info and linking to the webinar from the customer's orders page
- displaying a list of webinars via API calls on the create new product page.
- possibly even create new webinars via API calls from within the Back office

Im capable of building out something like this myself but if you can help me get a jumpstart on a decision by letting me know if its possible then it would be much appreciated!
