johnt
Hello! Is captcha really necessary on the registration form ? The fact that a user submits its registration details AFTER he/she has entered his/her email ? In other words, can a bot complete several registrations ? Or it is a protective measure (by prestashop) that the registration process is NOT completed in one page ?
jetway
Well it depends on your settings. If a customer needs to verify her email after registration the spammer/bot will only be able to register accounts but never verify them. Not verified accounts can be dumped. I personally do not believe that a several pages registration will stop a better bot because what a bot does it crawles your site and fills in all fields on the page. I personally have never experienced an account registration attack so far but i have updated the registration form a tiny bit to prevent attacks like that. I had installed a Prestashop addon for adding captcha on various forms, including the registration form. But somehow, the captcha does not work any more on the registration form. But it works fine in the contact form and in the login form. So, i disabled it on the registration form, so as users can register. I am talking about Prestashop 1.5.6.2. But i will try to find out why it stopped working on the registration form. When you say, you have updated the registration form, you mean you have added your self captcha protection without using an add-on ? Or you mean some kind of another protective measure ? Thank you again! John
