Installation: can't get past "System Configuration"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm having a problem installing Prestashop on my web host and I'm hoping someone can help. I have seen the same problem in one or two other forum posts but no answer seems to have been found.

My web hosting is with ixwebhosting.com on a server running IIS and PHP5.

Starting the installation wizard works fine through the first few steps but when I reach the third screen "System Configuration" I can verify the database and send a test email but when I click "Next" the buttons disable a for a few seconds (as if the next page is about to load) but then nothing happens...I am just left with the System Configuration page again. I can continue repeating clicking Next but can't get any further.

After reading the forum I tried running the installation with Firebug in Firefox running and saw the following error in the "Response" tab

mmap cache can't open D:\hshome\xxxxx\xxxxx.org\testshop\config\settings.inc.php (pid 10212 th 3076)

[my username and domain appear where the xxxx's are]

Through my FTP I can see this file does exist and seems to have read/write permissions.

I have trialled an installation on my local machine (also IIS) and there were no problems, it installed fine. So there must be some issue with my host but can't figure out exactly what. I asked their tech support and was told prestashop has been successfully installed by other customers but they couldn't give me any further help.

If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

yes i did get the warning. as it was only in the optional section i thought the installation should still work ok.

i've successfully managed to install on a different web host now but would still like to get it working on my main host with ix. so frustrating!!

if you find anything out please let me know

Howdy there,

register_globals won't make any difference to this problem, it's a "security" related option rather than something that directly affects functionality.

You mention that you're on IIS, and that to me would suggest that you may experience several problems. I would hazard a guess that changing file permissions via ftp may not work correctly (it can have unpredictable results on *nix hosts too), although since the file has been created, that doesn't appear to be the problem. Could it have something to do with compatibility with the method used to create the file? The error is cache related, so it would appear that your host is running something on there that you don't use on your local install.

It would be interesting to know which site HAS been installed on there successfully! There haven't been many(any?) reports of a successful IIS implementation that I've seen.

Paul

i raised a support ticket as suggested and i too now have it working!!!

it seems the issue is with the browser used when doing the install. i had tried IE and firefox which don't work but if you install opera and try that it works fine. i tried an installation of my own using opera and had no problem whatsoever!!

thanks for your help, hope this thread helps any others struggling with installation using ixwebhosting

Forgot to mention that I tried IE7 and Firefox on IX webhosting earlier and it didn't work but didn't ask the support who installed for me what browser he's using. I also installed through firefox with another webhoster and it worked w/o any problem.
