[Solved] Quick Search Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Ok so I've got 2 problems but I think maybe they're associated!

Using the Quick Search (and AJAX) when I type in 'Ben' or the corresponding letters I recieve nothing through the search or via the AJAX - which is faulty because I have at least 3 Ben Sherman products within the site.

Secondly, it's pulling back other products which perhaps aren't in the same category as before.. i.e. it's pulling back a product saying it is in 'Home' but I don't have any products located within their anymore!!

I have gone onto the Back End > Preferences > Search > and ran both functions to 'Add missing products to index' & 'Re-build entire index' but no change has occured!

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ok - fixed the first part of this problem... 'Ben' didn't come up due to the restriction of 3 letter words not being indexed, so that's solved now!

Edit: Second problem now fixed... basically what happened was I changed a product out of the Home category and put it in a different category (but didn't change the default category) - so this didn't show in the BE under Home, but was still reflected in the FE. I guess this is an issue worth taking note of whilst adding products!!

Hello, just thought I would put my two cents in since I had an issue with not being able to look up two letter words, as in Car model (XD or VN) etc.
This was very helpful to read.

Note: Search for two 2 letter words

1. As tomerg3 said. I went to PREFERENCES - SEARCH changed MINIMUM WORD LENGTH to 2
2. After that you need to RE-BUILD ENTIRE INDEX
3. If you are stupid like me then you will check the other web page you have open and try it on your site think something is wrong and try something else - yet it will still not work.
Why...... REFRESH your web page first!
4. Works a treat now, thanks tomerg3.
