jhnstcks
How long did you want to stop the orders?Putting the shop into maintenance mode for a few hours wont effect your rankings at all. I have had a site in maintenance mode for over a day and when i opened the shop again was still in exactly the same position on the rankings. Martin_S
Remove all your payment modules lol, I can as well remove the cart or order.php page, I dont want to do the setup again after thatI want to put a simple notice on a page where I would redirect a client who wants to order, I thought there would be a module for this or a feature. jhnstcks
Any type of redirect for customers will also affect search engine spiders which will in turn lead to loosing google position as it cant crawl your pages.

I am not retarded. I dont mean main page redirect.. I only want to redirect them if they want to place an ORDER + I already have a message on my main page that I dont process new orders. I simply want to block ordering process without deleting anyhing.
jhnstcks
I never thought you were retarded, i have no idea of yours or anyone else's technical abilities. You could setup a 301 redirect for the order.php page to a cms page maybe?

That could work. But.. how about renaming order.php so it goes 404? Wouldnt it work just as well?
jhnstcks
Is that would work just aswell, but if a customer didnt see that you were not open and started the checkout process and an error page was displayed they would never come back to you. But if you redirected to a mesaage telling the customer the shop was closed they might come back another day.
