Update from 1.7.2.3 to 1.7.3 stable - (1.7.3.0) specials and new product block stop working.

Hi Guys,

I had my website working nicely. the front page has a specials block, new product block and the featured product block. But i used the 1-click-upgrade to update my website. It said all had been done and everything seemed fine. but when i checked my index page of the website the specials block and new product block had vanished. So i tried resetting each module with no luck. I then tried to disable them and then enable them again with no luck again. So i uninstalled them and reinstalled and that hasn't worked either. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how i can fix it?
