Hi All,

I'm a complete newbie to anything of this sort which is why i'm probably going to ask a question that has a very simple answer.

I am trying to install Prestashop locally on my mac and have installed Mamp. Mamp is telling me that it's installed ok and takes me to the start page. It is from here I am completely lost.

So far I have renamed the downloaded "prestashop_1.0" folder to "istyle" and moved it into the folder "htdocs". It is from here that I am completely lost.

Like I say, I apologise for my complete lack of experience but I guess we all have to start somewhere.

Many thanks in advance for you help!

Hey there istyle assuming mamp is like my windows equivalent for mac it may be at http://localhost/(filename'>http://localhost/(filename here) if you dont know the file name doing http://localhost/ should bring you to a the main section anyhow from which you can choose the folder that you have prestashop stored in.
Otherwise there should be intall instructions for your mamp which will tell you how to get to the main section.
Cheers hope this helps.

My 1st step would be to confirm that MAMP is working - and that you can get the test page up.

If that's OK - go into your applications/MAMP/htdocs folder using finder and dump all the downloaded stuff from Prestashop in there.

Then open your web browser and connect to http://localhost/install to install the software (on my Mac it installed as port 8888 so I have to connect to http://localhost:8888/install

Could it be that you copied the actual prestashop_1.0 FOLDER into htdocs, instead of the CONTENTS of the folder?

If so then you either need to move the contents of /htdocs/prestashop_1.0 up into /htdocs or you can access the installer (and ultimately your site) using http://localhost/prestashop_1.0/

Just a thought!
