Double clicking on "I confirm my order" 1.7

Hi there, 

 

when an order is confirmed with clicking the button " I confirm my order" sometime there is a lag, the client feels like nothing happens and in result clicks a second time. In result he/she gets this page (please see the attachment). If goes back, gets the confirmation page again, but the cart is already empty, clicking again results in the same page.

 

The question is, is there a way to prevent the "I confirm my order" button from firing twice, i.e. once clicked on, following clicks do nothing?
