Dominion
Hi, I just started really using presta shop and I really like it so far!It just seems to me there are some lacking features in the shipping area. Maybe I have missed them by accident.I have a variety of items in my shop that I want to charge different rates for shipping. Some of these items have free shipping, some have $1 shipping, other have flat rate shipping, and others have shipping based on dimensions/weight. Is there a way I can do this in prestashop?Oh, also, if this is a soon to be added feature, it would be really nice to have web 2.0 stars that show up on the catalog if it is free shipping or flat rate shipping or whatever. Thanks! weaselbringer
I'm also interested in this, I've achieved essentially the same thing by using attributes. You can create an attribute for each shipping change you want. So if a product is 24 dollars and you want to charge an extra 2 dollars shipping, you make an attribute that increases the cost by 2 dollars and call it "Extra Shipping" and set it as the default for that product, then it will have the additional cost. But the problem is that it's more of a stopgap measure, because unless the customer is attentive, it just looks like that product costs price + 2dollars = 26 dollars. So it's not a very elegant solution. Still it might get you by for the time being. I don't use attributes for anything really and you can always make custom ones for each product that has special needs. PrestaShop, this would be a good feature to implement, per-item shipping adjustments.
BREZ
I do not use the "Tax" module on my site, nor have i any intention of, so i am presently working towards using this module as a shipping rate system. This obviously would be far handier to use as i have so many different shipping rates. (Free,by percentage, by weight and by location)
weaselbringer
That last comment isn't very helpful, you're basically just saying that you don't do things the same way we do, but most of us have to charge tax and have to use the tax module. I don't see how what you're describing is a solution?
BREZ
Every answer could not possibly be helpful to everyone!and as prestashop is open source it is meant to be manipulated to the users choice. When completed it would be a solution for those NOT using the tax module.I already use attributes so, your solution is not a solution for me. weaselbringer
Well I'm not sure how your attributes are configured but you could still use my solution depending on what the type of product you're using is. But I think that this is something that's gotten a lot of discussion on the site and I think a per-item shipping solution is in order. I've seen one member come up with a solution but it involves modifying a great deal of code and frankly I'm afraid that those solutions will break when I upgrade to the new version of prestashop. Is this in the upcoming release? or further down the road?
BREZ
"I think a per-item shipping solution is in order."That is exactly what i am working towards! With my system when complete, i will be able to insert an INDIVIDUAL shipping cost for each and every item when adding them to my catalogue. But as in your case and also other members, this solution will be of no use because you state you need the tax bands module.(Unless you add the tax to your item selling price)
weaselbringer
You have to notify them of the tax you're charging, so we can't just add the tax to the price. No I'm afraid that using the tax module in the way you describe is simply impossible for pretty much any USA store, due to the necessity of taxes and how they're handled. -thanks Adam PS: Prestashop? is this upcoming?
