nlpmesoon
From my one instance of PrestaShop and one website, is there a way to have a separate currency displayed in the front office for some products? ie. override the default currency in the Product or Category page?I do not wish to use the exchange rate module at all in this case as the product is training ($1,000 to $4,000 each) and they need to be displayed in fixed prices, the local currency and the current tax displayed. I need the payment and invoice to be in that countries' currency and tax. I do not want to use or rely upon exchange rates for this as this is makes the price not look consistent and may delay purchases, and with the lead time to sell is days, weeks and months, if the cost changes, people would lose trust in the website and the method of payment. I am selling to individuals, government departments and companies. This fluctuation is expected for consumer goods, travel and the like, but not for training courses. My main reason for having the one instance is that a few people may be able to mix and match their training by obtaining the training wherever we are delivering the course they want/ I have not used this product very long, so is there an option I cannot see for doing this? nlpmesoon
I am in the process of trying to use the current entries and see if matching the currency on the top of the page suits.
nlpmesoon
I have done further testing and it seems that there a mixture of issues.Default currency is AUD (as that is the default country).I set up the Back Office to sell a training couse in NZ and currently selecting 12.5% GST (tax) seems to create the right looking product in the Catalog > Product Info Page. I had specifically selected a tax rate against NZD as set up in the tax rates I had added. For me, this was the only reference to choosing a currency related item in the setting up of a product. When you come to buy it on the Front Shop side, you see it in the same $ amount that I had put in, the correct tax amount (NZ tax rate), but it happens to be in AUD. In any case then, this amount would be invalid - wrong tax etc for buying it in AUD. If I then select NZD in the currency options Front Shop side, it does the exchange rate change and adds about NZD500 on to the sale price. This is wrong too, it should go back to the exact amount I first put in and the correct tax amount.Am I left to belive that I must calculate the cost of running the course in the default currency and then applying this to the price? If so, this is not suitable as the price will vary with the exchange rate. I am not sure why I am give the option to select the tax rate specific to a currency, but not the actual currency of the product.I am using this method in another product where I can select the price, the tax etc. in various currencies. Am I just not looking in the right places? Can someone shed some light on this please?
nlpmesoon
Oh well, not sure how or who to ask this of. 89 views so far and I am guessing it is not possible or the right person hasn't seen it. I will go back to using WP e-commerce as it supports this functionality. Prestashop has some more stuff I'd like to use, but this feature is curcial. I stumbled upon this thread while looking for help on something else. We're building a store which needs the same requirement - i.e. charging a different fixed amount for different countries/currencies. In our case it's AUD, USD and Pounds. We've managed to build this (almost) successfully in PrestaShop 1.4(.2.5) using the "specific price" option in the backend. We've had to set up a specific tax rule too.
