FYI - PayPal: Error Processing Payment

All,

This is not a complaint, a call for help or a bug report, but something more like an FYI, hoping that you do not make the same mistakes as I did... :-)

I have obtained all the necessary info to configure the module from the PayPal site. However, if I selected the "Website Payments Pro" I got the error shown in the following screenshot

...but if I selected "Website Payments Standard " the following happened:

Please try to contact the merchant:

  1. <b>PayPal response:</b>
  2. TIMESTAMP -> 2018-01-12T20:32:20Z
  3. L_ERRORCODE0 -> 10002
  4. L_SHORTMESSAGE0 -> Security error
  5. L_LONGMESSAGE0 -> Security header is not valid
  6. L_SEVERITYCODE0 -> Error

 

The ERRORCODE0 10002 is the clue here: https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/business/article/why-did-i-get-api-error-code-10002-ts1030 

Be extremely careful when you copy & paste your API credentials as sometimes an extra space character is added. It took me some time to realize that after banging my head against the wall a few times :-)
