Updating Prestashop

In an attempt update prestashop to the newest version to remove an injection script / malware on my site, I have followed the rules here http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Installing_And_Updating_PrestaShop_Software/

but my home page is not showing up, though I can access the admin area.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

You need to provide more info. What happen to your site ?!

Try clearing cache and reload page again.
Note if you have friendly URL "on" you have to recreate .htaccess ...Check this since you can access the admin page.
