Email contact form SpamBot

Hi,

I was recently attacked by a spam bot, it used my ContactForm to spam the store's email inbox.

I changed the email password, and tried to add the Google  captcha, hardcoded into the ContactController.php  and contact-form.tpl.

 

Now I have two problems:

1- The contact form does not display errors or sucess messages,

2- I am getting an error on Email configuration, on the backoffice, while exchanging the new password, on the SMTP password field.

It says :" Failed to authenticate on SMTP server with username "[email protected]" using 2 possible authenticators .

 

What could be the problem?

I am using version 1.6.1, and working on my own theme, based on the original.
