wras
Hello everybody.I have a little problem with my prestashop installation.I've copied all the files to webhosting companys server and changed the permissions as instructed in your manual.Everything goes fine with the installation(all is green so to speak) and seems like no problems with using the backoffice.but when I want to update Currencies exchange rates with that real time tool, I get an error message."1.Cannot parse feed !"I've checked PHP Version which is 5.2.6. Would there be something else i should check ?Would any of you know what's going on
wras
So I'm just guessing to myself that it must have something to do with the hosting server ? They are blocking Prestashops way out...or way in Prestashop uses oanda or xe for getting the currencies information ? Or maybe something else ?If somebody would be nice enough to tell me about the specs of getting those currencies information. I could then contact my web hosting company and complain to them
Falcor
I get the same error. My guess is that they are trying to call an RSS/XML feed that has been changed. I will look into it and get back to you.

Create a file name php.ini using notepad or wordpad.2. Put this code register_globals = off.3. Upload it to the folder where the site is located.Did this still no good, wras or falcor solve thier problem? if so how?ThanksAlan

wras
Hi ukalhere, I am using Godaddy.com now and everything is just fine. Not sure what it was though, I'm thinking it's some server/hosting issue. Before I was using a "free" hosting package and that was where all the problems were Although I contacted the support, I got the feeling that they would prefer me to buy their "pay and you might actually get something" account So then after a while, I bought Godaddy package and I haven't had any problems.Of course it was easy for me to move my shop, because it wasn't running in Live mode I wish you best of luck ukalhere and sorry for not being able to help more./Joshuyo
ukalhere
Thanks wras,I do not want to change host as I have several sites set up on this one (1and1) and it will be a great hastle to change. I do not have problems with my other sites but they do not use PS. I am prety sure it is a server problem as on my testing server on my pc it works fine, if I could find out the cause then I could ask my host if they can fix it.anyone else with an idea?ThanksAlan
ukalhere
Still no ideas???Could it be that allow_url_fopen is not enabled?I have read that curl is a more secure system, can this feature use curl instead of fopen??I have tried enableing fopen but I just get error 500 from what I understand my host will not enable it for security reasons surely ps should be using the most secure system for exchange rate updates!Any comments welcome.Alan
eileensiow
I'm having the same currency problem:1 error 1. Cannot parse feed!It happens when I try to update my currencies. eileensiow
I have spoke to my host about the Currency Cannot Parse Feed. They replied me:"FYI, We have disabled allow_url_fopen and fopen in the server for security reasons. I would recommend you to contact the script developer and find and alternative solution. or you can go for our DVMS plan Please click the below URL and check out the plan."So i am seeking a developer here to find an alternative solution to this problem? Is there a new module to fix this problem for my host that really sucks.. I can't use any currencies in my shop which is really doing bad in sales because i have many requests from customers to have more options on various currencies. My real sucky host is www.netonboard.com
Guest
I dont think it's a currency issue because of the error you are talking about it does sound like something is trying to retrive a file and it can't. When you have an error like "Cannot parse feed" it means it can't read a file or that there is a duplicate file and can't read file. I would disable any modules you installed and just go down the list! Keep checking to see if everything goes back to normal each mod you disable. GOOD LUCK!SPAM
