Best practice process to create multistore using different PS versions

Hi,

Im planning on creating a new site and joining it to my exiting site with multistore. I just wanted to clarify the process - if someone can help please?

 

My existing site is full operational running on version 1.6.

My New site will be in version 1.7.

 

Is there best practice process for doing this? I'm thinking there might be issues with templates being designed for different engines?

My plan was to:

1. create the new 1.7 site on wamp

2. migrate my existing 1.6 site to wamp

3. Join 1.6 store to 1.7 store with multistore

4. configure both sites

5. migrate both sites to my hosting provider

You cannot "join" shops with Prestashop - except maybe with some complicated third party tools that you need to buy. So I don't think that makes sense in your case.

The only obvious way is:

 - upgrade your 1.6 shop to 1.7. (if you really want so; many people still believe 1.6 to be better)

 - switch the shop to multi-shop in Settings->General

 - add the new shop in the backoffice, fill it with products and give it its own theme
