Create Custom Template and Webstore design

I'm fairly new to this CMS and was wondering how it's possible to change the template to something I would like.

For example: If I would want the image of a product here and the description directly below that image, how would I go about editing to make this?

Also, how do you change the front page in this manner?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried Joomla in this same manner and had to dig through a ton of messy php to do anything.

You can easily do this with the template files for your theme. Follow the instructions in the wiki.

I think the easiest way to modify a theme is with firebug.

That way you can find and replace a single item in a theme. It's awesome how a single modification to block_header.gif can do.

you could open the tpl files of themes that you use. change the order or edit the code there.

I have over 13 years of software development in Microsoft based software development technologies. But I am a newbie to PHP and especially to Prestashop framework. I am learning the framework and in the process, started to write a series of posts(Creating a Prestashop 1.4 theme from scratch) to outline the creation of a new Prestashop theme using Visual Studio and other tools.
