Can Version 1.0.x even be upgraded?

From running test upgrades, it is my opinion that version 1.0.x versions cannot be upgraded using the upgrade installer tool.

Please someone prove me wrong!!
When upgrading a site, the upgrade tool even gives 70 SQL errors when trying to upgrade to version 1.1
When trying to skip straight to version 1.3.1, the tool shows no SQL errors, but duplicates content such as country listing, shipping data in the site, so it is unusable.

My opinion of Prestashop has dramatically reduced following these events.

Can anyone successfully say they have upgraded a very early version of Prestashop, 1.0.0x ?

Do you have a lot of products in your store?
Do you use another template?
Why do you want to upgrade? do you really need it?

Yes, for security reasons we are doing the upgrade.

About 500 products and standard template.
