[SOLVED]Friendly URLs make navigation disappear

When I enable friendly URLs the names of categories are replaced with a gray bar. The only way to see the names is to hover over the bars and then everything looks normal. You can see this at

http://www.everythingperfume.com/

The navigation links work and friendly URL is displayed.

From preferences I enabled friendly URLs and then generated the .htacces file. which can be seen below.

Would anyone have an idea on how to correct this.
