Product Listing in Back Office

I have an issue in organising product listing in the back office. It is clear how to arrange products in the shop itself but how do I organise my products alphabetically in the back office? The up / down arrows don't seem to do anything, whether or not items are selected. Any suggestions appreciated.

Clicking the up arrow under the "Name" column should sort the products alphabetically in the Back Office.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I assumed it should, but it doesn't work, whether products are selected or not .......
